Integrating English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) Plus ELPS at a Glance

All teachers who instruct English Language Learners (ELLs) must implement the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS). Therefore, a good understanding of the ELPS and how to effectively embed them in daily instruction is a must.

The ELPS professional learning provides a thorough review of the characteristics of the four linguistic proficiency levels in the four domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Also, it guides participants through a series of activities that focus on the language proficiency standards, language proficiency level descriptors, instructional accommodations, and instructional strategies. Through this experience, participants will learn how to align TEKS-based classroom lessons with the ELPS.
