La enseñanza de la POESÍA

[two_third]
Poetry is crucial for healthy literacy development. We know that “poetry enables teachers to teach their students how to write, read, and understand any text. (Simmons, 2014)” It is also beneficial for English Language learners because of the speaking and listening skills it requires and encourages. Research has shown that a highly effective and important way to teach literature, and poetry in particular, is through genres. Knowledge of genre leads to “active, often purposeful, reading and writing” (Joliffe 280). Students are required to become proficient in four genres of poems: narrative, lyrical, humoristic and free verse. In this resource, we have included a lesson framework, anchor charts, activities, and a guided check for understanding for each genre.
